The Bermuda Kennel Club (BKC) was formed in May of 1955, following the Canadian Kennel Club’s (CKC) agreement to register Bermuda owned and Bermuda bred pure–bred dogs.
Obedience Training Classes were started later that year.
The first Championship Conformation Show was held in the spring of 1956 under CKC rules, as were all the shows until 1966.
In April of 1964 the BKC became an “Incorporated Body” under Bermuda Law.
Encouraged by the CKC, the BKC adopted its own Dog Show Rules and Obedience Trial Regulations in 1967, and in 1968 the BKC set up its own Registration Records.
In 1990 BKC delegates attended the 6th World Congress of Kennel Clubs, and in 1991 the AKC recognized the Bermuda Registry.
In 1992 Bermuda and the BKC proudly hosted the 7th World Congress of Kennel Clubs.
in 2011, the 2009 & 2010 top Bermuda show dogs were invited to compete in the 2011 AKC/Eukanuba National Championship. https://www.akc.org/invitational/2011/bermuda.cfm
